Action Research:- Reading development of upp pry level of the students of English as third language.

       Development of English language reading of 5th to 8th standard's students as their third language.

      As a English language teacher it's a tough and challenging task to teach reading to the 5th to 8th standard students there are many problems in teaching reading. Many of us try but can't get enough result. Let's try it differently. It's a continuous improvement and need extra continuous efforts.

    At primary level we go with listening, speaking, reading and writing means we teach students the language skills in this sequence. But when the students spend 5 years in the school learning English language they they have listened the English language, sometime they can speak English and they can write English language but they can not read it properly that's why we need to think about reading skill of English language defferently.

Observations:-

1) Some students learning in 5th to 8th standard can not read properly.

2)Some students learning in 5th to 8th standard can not read with proper speed.

3)Some students learning in 5th to 8th standard can not read with proper stress and intonation.

4) Some students learning in 5th to 8th standard can not pronounce the words properly.

5)Some students learning in 5th to 8th standard can not read even the syllables which is small part of words can be pronounced independently.

6)Very few students learning in 5th to 8th standard can not even know the alphabet and their sounds also.

        These are some comman problems of the students learning in 5th to 8th standard and need to treat them with proper guidance and practice of reading skills.
   
     First stage to solve the problem is to find out the problem so we have to find out the students having same problem and make the group of the students having same problem. For that we can take oral and informal tast.

Preparation:-
        First of all we have to make the group of students having same problem in reading.
For each group we have to gather the material to help them with. To improve reading skill we need proper listening 🎧 material and video material too. We can also use the charts of alphabet with their sounds/pronounciation.

Like this chart we have to collect many useful charts to practice the sound and their symbols.

We can also collect model reading video and make students listen 👂 and watch the expression of the reader.

Process to develop reading skill of 5th to 8th standard.

For group 1st.

   The first group of students who can not read the alphabet with their sounds. For this group much more effort and we have to start from the start.
   The students in this group should be introduced the alphabet with their sounds with the help of the students who can read the alphabet with their sounds. We can make pairs of students one will help the other to take the practice of the alphabet with their sounds. Or we can take practice of alphabets with their sounds with the help of video and charts.

We will take practice of the students until they understand and pronounce the alphabets with their sounds.
  
For the second group
   The second group of students who can not read the syllables of the words.
   Syllable is a small part of the ward that can be pronounced independently.
    When we learn to read Hindi/Marathi we learn to read (क, का, कि, की...) These are the syllables of Hindi/ Marathi and words are the combination of these syllables. The English language has its own syllables we need to make learn to pronounce the syllables of English language. Some words have single syllable, some words have many syllables.

  We need to take practice of pronounciation of the syllables with the help of charts and videos of properly pronounced syllables until the students can read the syllables of English language.
